    Hey
I am a student and was planning to come to learn snow boarding. I wanted to know if we need our own equipment. Also, is the place open during may, June, july august as these are the only days I can come.

  3. Suhail

    Hi Akshant,

I think may, June, July and August might be a bit late/early for us to expect snow. However if you are really interested, I would reckon the best time to come and visit is anywhere between late December and early March (subject to climate changes). Regarding the equipment, you would not be required to bring you own as it should be provided by the course coordinators.
Not to forget, Gulmarg is equally beautiful and tranquilizing in summers. So you can plan a holiday anytime in summers and experience the slopes by foot or on the back of a pony before you see yourself gliding down the piste on a Snowboard.
    Hope my response is helpful!

Are there chances of snowfall in Gulmarg in mid December? Or will there be snow already? We are planning to visit the place around December 18, 2011. Please let me know. Thanks!

    Hello,

How is the current snow condition in Gulmarg (in the first week of December 2011)? We are planning to visit Gulmarg around 26th/27th December, and might be interested in the skiing course starting on the 27th. Hope the snow conditions would be a lot better then. Or, is it better to visit in January 2012?

Last year, a few ski lifts were not operational around 21st-23rd December due to less snow.

    Regards.

I would suggest all of my friends if you want to feel the beauty and adventure of real snow and skiing, Do visit in first week of February. This is an ultimate time to enjoy the skiing to its fullest. I’m Local Boy of Gulmarg and remains outside the Kashmir throughout the Summer. But I’ll never miss the Gulmarg Skiing. I always visit during first week of February and start skiing on 7th Feb…. and FYI – the Gulamrg Snow festival is being celebrated every year 3rd Saturday & Sunday of February, I suggest everyone..not to miss that… See u all in Gulmarg on 7th of February, 2012.

    Cheers
